It is important to gather enough information for you to make an informed decision. Being successful in Real Estate is usually a result of two things - the right personality and the right training. REALTORS® may try to talk you out of going into real estate. Why? Because due to poor training they have not been successful and they do not want more competition. Talk to a REALTOR® who is successful to get advice.
The course is put on by the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business. You want the "Trading Services" course. It takes about 20 mins to fill in the questionnaire, pay your fee and register. Pay by credit card. This will cost you $1450+ tax.. The website is found here: https://www.sauder.ubc.ca/programs/real-estate
There are multiple courses online to help you pass the RE exam that cost between $1000 to $2000. Our course is $499. If you pass your exam, join Coldwell Banker for your first year, you will be reimbursed your $499 investment! We at Coldwell Banker do not make our money by teaching you how to get licensed. We make our money by turning you into a successful REALTOR® and helping you sell Real Estate. Contact our coach and trainer and register for the training. Her email is Derryanne@gmail.com
The average time to complete the course is 10-12 months if you do it on your own and 4-6 months if you are in our training program. We offer an easy to understand, virtual classroom course. We’ve summarized the textbook and focus on the questions that will be on your exam. You will receive regular invitations to online meetings and instructional videos.
There are 20 assignments that must be handed in online prior to writing your exam. UBC will only allow you to hand in two assignments per week. Consequently, the fastest you can complete the course is ten weeks (20 assignments divided by 2 per week = 10 weeks).
You will not be able to write the licensing exam if you have not satisfied this requirement PRIOR to writing the exam. The CELPIP exam simply tests you on your command of the English language. There are 2 exemptions but they are very specific: First, you have graduated with a bachelor degree or diploma (or higher) from an accredited Canadian university, college or technical institute at which English is the primary language of instruction. Second, you are licensed in another jurisdiction in Canada and have satisfied that jurisdiction’s language requirements.
The Exam is 100 multiple choice questions that must be completed within 3 hours with a passing mark of 70% or higher. You can write in a local centre or Vancouver. The local centre is free but has a 2 to 6 week waiting period for results. Vancouver costs $200 but has next day results. We recommend this latter option. If you write in a local centre you will not know whether to keep studying for your rewrite or celebrate for some time. It is much wiser to go to the Vancouver exam center and get your marks the next business day.
This is a mandatory course that orients you to selling Real Estate within the local board. You take this course after you pass the exam. There are three parts to this course. First is two weeks of group online classes where you are required to participate, comment and ask questions. This will allow you to receive your temporary license. Second is four and a half months of “In the field training”. You are now selling with your temporary license. You will be doing open houses and working with buyers and sellers. Finally, there is one day of live zoom classroom work.
After you complete the Applied Course, you will be granted a tempory licence. You will then join a brokerage and fill out your application. You will need a criminal record check done at this time, which is obtained from the local police station. Your application and criminal record check are then sent to the BC Financial Services Authority.
Become a member of the Real Estate Board. CREA (Canadian Real Estate Association) and BCREA (The BC Real Estate Association). The start up fees vary between the different boards. These initial charges are one time only charges.
